Polka Dot Blog Design

Hi!

OK, so I just ordered a blog button and signature from a designer blog called: Polka Dot Blog Design. The blog is all by Lulu. It had designs of all kind and heres the best part, it's 100% free!

Here's Lulu's profile:

My name is Lulu Maggie, and I have a beautiful life! I have a wonderful family -- two lovely parents and seven siblings - 6 brothers and 1 sister. I am home schooled and currently in seventh grade. I enjoy photography, graphic design, and much more.

I am a strong Christian, and I believe that Jesus died on the cross to shed His perfect blood for my sins. That is the free gift of God, and I believe that everyone who believes His death and repents for their sins can be forgiven. I also believe that God created the earth in 7 days, the 7th day being His rest day. I believe that God sent a global flood to the earth to destroy the unrighteous people.

I started this blog to encourage young ladies and to provide interesting and godly things for them to look at. Here at my blog you will find devotionals, giveaways, photography contests, and more.

I hope you find my blog edifying and that you come here often!

Visit it soon!

May God's richest blessings be with you all!

Ice cream Sandwich

photo.JPG

This is a picture of my ice cream sandwich. This weekend I made cookies at my country house and brought a whole bag full back to the city. I watched an episode of Fringe (I popped in and out of watching that, i get updated on the latest crisis's by my friend who watches every episode) and decided to treat myself with ice cream and cookie! then... I'M A GENIUS! So yep, I made a homemade ice cream sandwich.

My recipe ( Half mine, half chocolate-chip bag cookie recipe):

3/4 cup of sugar
3/4 cup of packed brown sugar
2 sticks of butter, make sure there softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of baking soda
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips (they wanted me to put in two and when I did, I decided that 1 would be enough but of course they wanted us to run out of them and but more.)

YAY

yay pillsThis is just to say that pills stink. Vitamins. Even though, they make you "bigger and stronger", they taste like chalk. Whenever I have a flinstone vitamin, can you not throw up? Or is it just me?

2011 Grammy Awards.... Whoa

Sadly, I didn't see the Grammy Awards because I was sleeping. But, I did see it on YouTube...

At first in Justin Beiber's performance, I thought he was crazy because his guitar solo was so short and shy. Then it started to make sense with Usher and all the Ninjas. Yeah! Ninjas are so in style! All 13 year old famous pop-star singer kids have them in they're Grammy Award performances. Not criticizing, just questioning.

Lady Gaga? Don't get me started. That lady's agents and stylists have so many out-of-this-world ideas that if everyone dressed like that we would run out of deodorant. A womb? Freaky i-have-an-extra-bone-on-my-cheek people as backup dancers? And I thought the meat dress was as original and creatively over the top as one singer can do! The ending? Yes,  in my point of view (from a little kid filming his T.V screen at 10:00 P.M) it was so Michael Jackson like when they did the ending of claws in the air and the organ.
She's almost like the 20th Century Beatles. Introducing outrageous fashions of food, objects and UN-solid materials. I wonder if in 10 years we'll be wearing medal (like robots) or bubbles.

Thakoon

I went to a Thakoon fashion show Sunday night. It was at the Plaza Hotel in which I thought was amazing. Produced by Dizon Inc. clothes by obviously, Thakoon. But anyway, I was seated at a balcony where there was a perfect view of the audience, photographers and models. Here are some pictures:

Some of them are blurry but look, it's life. I took it with an iphone and they're moving models so deal with it.

I went back stage so I got a picture of the boards with the pre-photos of them.
The other thing that was exciting is that Tavi Gevinson(15 year old fashion blogger of The Style Rookie) who is one of my favorite bloggers came to the show and she looked all vintage. So cool.

A poem

This is a poem by a 4th grader in Texas. I think it's amazing.

Armed

Armed with a pencil
And a shield filled with words
I sum up my courage to face the world.
With an eraser for backup
And a book for ideas,
I rise up over the trees hung with leaves.
I rise up to the stars and above
Into a far-off universe I love.
It's quiet and peaceful
As bright as the sun
And filled with imagination;
Enough for everyone.
There's room for all,
Supplied with the inspiration you need
To click on your mind,
And finally
Succeed.

Riddles you probably know

A. You saw me where I never was and where I could not be. And yet within that very place, my face you often see. What am I?

B. The power is down and you can feel out three doors. One has a fire, the second has a man with an electric chair and the third has a woman with an ax. They all want you dead for some reason, so which way would you want to go?

C. What walks on 4 legs in the morning, 2 in the afternoon and 3 at night?

A. a reflection

B. man with the electric chair. (the power was down)

C. A baby, A man and an old man with a cane

Dreaming or daydreaming

If I told you that your entire life was really just a dream, how would you react?
To answer this question, I took a survey of a bunch of new yorkers and they said:

"I'd be paralyzed in shock"

"I'd would refuse to believe it's"

"would look around and wonder what my real life as if this wasn't it"

"I would start pinching myself."

So, to new yorkers, loads of them would most likly be confused.
Would, I'd probably scream. I worked so hard on m life! Bing told that it was all imagination in some stupid sleep would ruin me... How yould you respond?

The Girl Who Could Fly

The Girl Who Could Fly is a book by Victoria Forester. I think its for young teens... anyway, it's one of my favorite books on earth. It's about a girl who's name grew up in a family of regular farmers. The mother is afraid of being gossiped about and her father just lives on with life. Well, she's been a regular baby since birth. But just when most babies start to walk, she floats. So from that moment on she's been evolving. Floating to flying to soaring. When word gets out because she accidentally flies in public, the Government goes for her. They bring her to a top secret place called I.N.S.A.N.E. She meets kids with X-ray vision, incredible minds, super-strong muscles, color powers healing powers and lots more. Then, you should just take it from there. Im not going to give it away. So read it...

2011, here I come.

Happy new years!

I stayed up to watch the ball drop on dick clark's rockin new years eve. The funny thing is that the old bands like the new kids on the block, are like what? 35? Plus, THEY AIN'T NEW ON ANY BLOCK! So I'm wondering why they got back together.
In addition, my opinion is that there are so many rappers that played that night, and they all pretty much singing about love. I mean some were good, Like the guy with the spaceman theme and the helmets concert was the best. The people in the back were dressed in black and held up white costumes so it looked like super floating flexible superheros were hip-hopping as backup singers.
But some performances like ke$ha's who murdered a bunny and rode on Santa claus in blue lipstick singing about how drunk she is were on the stupider side.

So I stayed up until avail Lavigne sang and then went to bed. the great things about the show was the reporters, the most popular goals for 2011, the psychical ball drop.

Tell me what you thought of the show by commenting! Happy 2011...

Calvin and Hobbes: The Incident of thy Snowman

There are endless of them. (and there not all about expressive snowmen) there are books filled with them.

Plus, If you don't get it, (which it's kind of obvious) Calvin and Hobbes built the snowman incident. And e does it all the time. So... his parents think he had something wrong with him.

But the kid speaks Shakespere and is 6! Also, you can see how his imagination brings Hobbes to life and when Hobbes is in sight of others, he's just a stuffed tiger.

In my book, "The Mysterious Benedict Society", The characters use Morse Code to signal their information to their homeland. At first, I wondered what Morse Code was and realized it was how the military used to communicate (or still might) without others realizing what they were saying. So, I taught myself how to use it and what ways. I'm guessing from what I've read online and in my book that it can be used with light, sound and pen. I also found one of the thousands of charts on google. I plan to teach my friends this to be more secret agent-like...

Chocolate cloud cake

("Eat more ham" flickr.com by Angela Mabray)

Happy Thanksgiving.....

I found a chocolate cloud cake recipe online at cookstr.com, by Nigella Lawson
and I'm going to make it.  Here it is:

Ingredients and Equipment

  • 9 ounces bittersweet chocolate, minimum 70% cocoa solids
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • eggs: 2 whole, 4 separated
  • ½ cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Cointreau (optional)
  • 9-inch springform cake pan

For the cream topping:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Cointreau (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder for sprinkling

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Line the bottom of the cake pan with baking parchment.
Melt the chocolate either in a double boiler or a microwave, and then let the butter melt in the warm chocolate.
Beat the 2 whole eggs and 4 egg yolks with l/3 cup of the sugar, then gently add the chocolate mixture, the Cointreau and the orange zest.
In another bowl, whisk the 4 egg whites until foamy, then gradually add the remaining sugar and whisk until the whites hold their shape but are not too stiff. Lighten the chocolate mixture with a dollop of egg whites, and then fold in the rest of the whites. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 35–40 minutes or until the cake is risen and cracked and the center is no longer wobbly. Cool the cake in its pan on a wire rack; the middle will sink as it cools.
When you are ready to eat, place the still pan-bound cake on a cake stand or plate for serving and carefully remove the cake from its pan. Don’t worry about cracks or rough edges: it’s the crater look we’re going for here. Whip the cream until it’s soft and then add the vanilla and Cointreau and continue whisking until the cream is firm but not stiff. Fill the crater of the cake with the whipped cream, easing it out gently toward the edges of the cake, and dust the top lightly with cocoa powder pushed through a tea-strainer.
You can make this into an Easter Nest Cake by folding 7 ounces of melted chocolate into the cream topping and dotting with sugar-coated eggs instead of the cocoa. Leave the Cointreau out of both the cake and cream.
Then, enjoy your Chocolate cloud cake!

Day of the dull

Dear reader,

Today, I have no big thing I have or did so I'll just tell you about my regular sunday day.

I first went up to my country house Friday night that is upstate NY,so today I left. Woke up in the morning feeling like canned soup. Then I ate an oddly French breakfast and watched old SNL episodes later on. Then, left back to manhattan.

Athena was so gassy, It was a her horrifying smell that filled the car.

When I got to my apartment, I went to some cheap nail salon and came back home with navy blue fingers. Yeah, my day might not have been as exciting as yours but as long as I wasn't sitting on a couch, then blogging my snore sound. It's possible so be glad I had a story.

Sincerely,

Martine
